Aggelos Papadimitriou

Aggelos Papadimitriou studied at the Vakalo School and the Katseli Theater School. He considers himself self-taught. He has been creating since 1977 and in 1983 he presented his first solo exhibition entitled “Rock-Rococo”. This was followed by the exhibitions “Works of Art” (1988), “New Louvre” (1990), “Ipatithene” (1996), “Dedication” (2000) as well as many participations in group and international exhibitions. In 1993 he was selected to participate in Aperto at the 45th Venice Biennale, where he participated with part of the work he had presented at the end of 1992 at the New Forms gallery entitled “Farewell Art”. His work constantly references the history of art with a critical and subversive spirit, while the elements of irony, self-mockery and humor are strong, with a sense of nostalgia and tenderness. His colorful porcelain creations that imitate the characteristic decorative knick-knacks of urban houses, to an ambiguous effect, are characteristic. A multifaceted artistic nature, he is also involved in set design, singing and acting, having worked for theater, cinema and television.
